Reaching Haida Gwaii is part of the experience. Set off the wild northern coast of British Columbia, the journey to the islands unfolds through dramatic skies, open ocean, and ancient forest. However you arrive, the final approach feels like stepping into a place where nature still leads the way.
BY AIR
Fly with Pacific Coastal from South Terminal in Vancouver to Masset. We’re located an 7-minute drive from Masset airport. Seasonal pick up available for guests who are renting our adventure truck at the airport.
Alternatively, fly with Air Canada to Sandspit and take the 3.5 hour road trip to Masset.
BY SEA
For those who prefer a slower, scenic approach, the ferry journey offers one of the most memorable arrivals on the coast. The BC Ferries North Coast route departs from Prince Rupert and sails across open Pacific waters to Skidegate Landing.
The crossing takes approximately seven hours and allows guests to bring a vehicle, ideal for exploring the islands at their own pace. Along the way, travellers often spot whales, seabirds, and the mist-shrouded silhouettes of the archipelago emerging from the horizon.
PRIVATE ARRIVAL
For guests seeking a more bespoke journey, private charters by aircraft, seaplane, or yacht can be arranged from Vancouver, Victoria, or Prince Rupert.
Arriving this way offers a remarkable perspective of the islands, where ancient rainforest meets untamed coastline and the Pacific stretches endlessly to the horizon.

Haida Gwaii has many private artist studios and home galleries that are not formally listed online. The community of Old Massett especially is known for Haida carving, weaving, and argillite sculpture, and many artists sell work directly from their homes or studios.
Drive or walk around Old Masset as there are numerous small local artists and carvers. Most of these shops have signs at the front of their property and welcome respectful and curious guests.
